Yekîtiya Jinên Ciwan (Young Women’s Union) held a march under the “Em Dibejin Na” (We Say No) move which was initiated to combat violence against women in the cities of Qamişlo and Hesekê in the canton of Cizir.
The march in Qamishlo started in Çerxerêya Şehîd Rûbar and ended in front of the United Nations building in the Siyahî neighbourhood.
Dozens of women members affiliated with civil and military institutions and the people of Qamishlo joined the march, chanting slogans saluting the resistance of Heftanin, and calling for the freedom of Leader Abdullah Öcalan. The women raised banners that read “No to violence and murder”.
After the end of the march, a young woman named Tolîn Reşîd read a statement on behalf of the young womens orgaisation condemning the silence of organizations which are supposed to protect the rights of women and children. The young woman expressed outrage regarding the continued crimes being committed by the occupying Turkish state against women and children in Afrin and other areas occupied.
Hundreds of young women and people from Hesekê joined the march, carrying photos of children who were subjected to violence. The woman activists held banners which read “No to child marriages” and “No to Turkish occupation”.
The march in Hesekê started in Çerxeriya Şehîd Serhed in Miftî district and ended in front of the Children’s Rights Association. The public condemned the crimes against children with slogans.
Yekitiya Jinên Ciwan board member Rosîm Mihemed Hisên read a statement on behalf of the young women’s organization, condemning the crimes committed by the occupying Turkish state against children in the areas occupied by the occupying Turkish state, and stated that the aim of the occupying Turkish state was to commit genocide and thus trampled human rights laws.
The statement drew attention to the silence of the states and human rights organizations of the world against the crimes committed by the invading Turkish state and its gangs against children in Afrin and Serêkanîyê.
They stated that they will be in a resistance against every attack against young women and youth and that all Kurdish youth should take part in this resistance.
